Chris Marée

Born in Groesbeek near Nimwegen, the Netherlands, Chris Marée began to play guitar at the age of fourteen. He made good progress so quickly that, after only three years of having had lessons, he was accepted at the Conservatory of Tilburg, the Netherlands. He took lessons from Baltazar Benítez, a well-known guitarist from Uruguay, and attended master classes of John Williams in Spain. After graduating he went on as a professional musician. Next to his career as a solo guitarist he played in his own guitar trio in the eighties. They were very successful with their own compositions and took part in a big national radio and tv contest in the Netherlands where they reached the finals. Together with Ina Marée he later founded the duo ‘Terracotta’ and toured with their concert program of melodic pop compositions combined with jazz and Latin folk influences. During the last ten years they toured in many European countries like Germany, Spain, France and the Netherlands.
